Community Guidelines
Updated: March 30, 2026
Crib works because students trust each other. These guidelines exist to protect that trust. They apply to everyone: hosts, seekers, and anyone interacting on the platform.
Be Honest
- Accurate profiles. Use your real name, a real photo of yourself, and truthful information about your university and year.
- Accurate listings. Your listing photos, descriptions, and pricing should reflect the actual space. Don't embellish or mislead.
- Honest reviews. Write reviews based on your genuine experience. Don't write fake reviews, offer incentives for positive reviews, or retaliate against someone who left a fair review.
Be Respectful
- No harassment. Do not use Crib to threaten, intimidate, stalk, or harass anyone.
- No discrimination. Do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, national origin, or any other protected characteristic.
- Communicate clearly. Respond to messages and booking requests in a reasonable timeframe. If you can't host someone, decline politely.
- Respect the space. If you're a seeker, treat the host's space as you'd want yours treated. Leave it clean and in good condition.
Be Safe
- Meet in person. Always see a space before committing to any financial arrangement.
- Keep conversations on Crib. In-app messaging protects both parties.
- Report problems. If something feels off, whether a suspicious listing, a hostile message, or a space that doesn't match, report it.
What's Not Allowed
The following will result in content removal and may lead to account suspension or permanent ban:
- Fraudulent or fake listings
- Using someone else's identity or photos
- Creating multiple accounts
- Harassment, threats, or hate speech
- Discriminatory hosting practices
- Spam, solicitation, or off-platform advertising
- Using Crib for purposes other than student subletting
- Attempting to circumvent the verification process
- Sharing another user's private information (address, contact details) without consent
Enforcement
We review reports and take action based on the severity of the violation. Consequences include:
- Content removal: the listing, review, or message is taken down
- Warning: for first-time or minor violations
- Temporary suspension: your account is paused while we investigate
- Permanent ban: for serious or repeated violations
We try to be fair. If your account is affected, we'll explain why and give you a chance to respond when appropriate.
Reporting
You can report any user, listing, or message directly in the app using the report button. You can also email us at support@nucrib.com. All reports are confidential. The person you report will not know who filed it.
